Put me down for Nancy. While I loves me some Cher, she took this song in a direction that was very, well, Cher. I had flashbacks to Solid Gold and Staying Alive, which didn't work for me with this song. To each his own.
Nancy's take is awesome, better than the version of Cher's that you have here... Though I do like Cher's original version better than the rocker one she put out in the 80s.
I love Cher and her explosive personality and her version is the glitz and glam rocket ship I would expect, but I don't think it does the song justice. Nancy's version has a austere sophistication and a natural, reflective tone that adds layers to the tale. I'm with Nancy all the way on this one.

Cher...what can you say

ReplyDeleteI love Nancy's too. Her drama and pose, in the midst of it all. Cunty , Cunty, Cunty. With all that pink I love it.
ReplyDeleteSince I'm not much of a Cher fan...Nancy all the way. I love that version.

ReplyDeleteI like both versions for different moods. In general I prefer Cher, but like several things Nancy recorded.
